Sustainability
Natural raw material, conscious choice – that's why we work with PLA
At DorLabs, we are committed to making our creations not only spectacular and unique, but also with the smallest possible ecological footprint. That is why we have chosen to primarily use PLA (polylactic acid) for our 3D printed products, which is one of the most environmentally friendly materials on the market.
What is PLA?
PLA, or polylactic acid, is a biodegradable plastic made from renewable plant sources – most commonly cornstarch or sugarcane. Unlike traditional, petroleum-based plastics, PLA production does not rely on fossil energy and emits significantly less carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.
Why is it environmentally friendly?
-
It comes from a renewable source : The plants that produce PLA can be regenerated every year, so production does not deplete the Earth's resources.
-
Biodegradable : Under industrial composting conditions, PLA breaks down into water, carbon dioxide and organic matter within months – thus not polluting the environment in the long term.
-
Lower carbon emissions : PLA production produces fewer greenhouse gases, resulting in a smaller ecological footprint.
-
Non-toxic and odorless : PLA is safe for both home and artistic use, as it does not emit harmful fumes or chemicals during printing.
Quality and awareness go hand in hand
Although PLA is lighter than many other plastics, it is excellent for creating detailed figurines, ornaments, and other unique 3D printed products. The material is easy to mold, provides excellent surface quality, and is a perfect choice if you are concerned about the environment with your design.
The future belongs to sustainable design
At DorLabs, we believe that creativity doesn't have to compromise environmental awareness. Manufacturing with PLA allows art, technology, and responsible thinking to come together in harmony. When you order from us, you're not just getting a unique figurine - you're taking a step towards a greener future.
If you would like to learn more about our PLA raw materials or manufacturing processes, we are happy to share the details with you - for us, every piece is a story that we write together.
